3 day FAW - First Aid at Work Syllabus
This course is ideal for all business types where the risk assessment requires a higher level of training as well as other area’s where a more comprehensive first aid course is required.
This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.
It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment to work in. If your assessment of first aid needs highlights the need for qualified first aiders, then this qualification will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel. The content meets the needs of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the new guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2013.
This course can be taught as a QCF Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work.
Duration: This course involves at least 18 hours of training and is usually run over three days though can be run as shorter sessions if required.
Prices depend on the certificate option, either a standard certificate of a QCF certificate. The training is always the same regardless of the certificate you choose. Both certificate options include a First Aid training pack.

Course content includes:
• The roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
• Assessing an incident
• Recovery Position
• Bleeding and Shock
• Burns and Scalds
• Minor Injuries
• Secondary Survey
• Bone, muscle and joint injuries
• Head and spinal injuries
• Chest and abdominal injuries
• Eye injuries
• Major illnesses (heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes)
Upon completion of this course, students will receive either a standard First Aid Training Certificate or a QCF certificate. Both are valid for 3 years.
Continuous assessment by trainer, practical assessments to cover wound management, care of an unconscious casualty, CPR and a multiple choice paper (if you have chosen the QCF externally assessed certificate)
Students can attend a 2 day re-qualification course as long as their FAW is within date (up to 28 days after is allowed).
