First Aid at Work Syllabus Re-Qualification
This is a 2 day course designed for those who hold a current FAW certificate to become re-qualified for a further 3 years. Certificates MUST be in date (up to 28 days grace period is allowed) and presented at the start of the course. The content meets the needs of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the new guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2013.
This course can be taught as a QCF Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work.
Duration: This course involves at least 12 hours of training and is run over two days though can be run as shorter sessions if required.
Prices depend on the certificate option, either a standard certificate of a QCF certificate. The training is always the same regardless of the certificate you choose. Both certificate options include a First Aid training pack.

Course content includes:
• The roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
• Assessing an incident
• Recovery Position
• Bleeding and Shock
• Burns and Scalds
• Minor Injuries
• Secondary Survey
• Bone, muscle and joint injuries
• Head and spinal injuries
• Chest injuries
• Eye injuries
• Major illnesses (heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes)
Upon completion of this course, students will receive either a standard First Aid Training or a QCF certificate. Both are valid for 3 years.
The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders complete an annual refresher course to keep their skills up to date and in line with any changes in First Aid procedures.
